Cruise Ships in Aruba: Watching The Stadendam Departure and Visiting the Horizon

Watching the Holland America’s Stadendam Departure from Aruba and Visiting the Pullmantur’s Horizon Inside. The Horizon is being transfered to Crossieres de France to replace the Bleu de France (sold to the British SAGA).

That day we had an amazing encounter of cruise chips in Aruba, Caribbean: Ocean Dream & Horizon from Pullmantur, Stadendam from Holland America and Silver Explorer from Silverseas Expeditions.

MS Statendam is a cruise ship of the Holland America Line. She is the fifth ship to carry the name Statendam for NASM/Holland America Line.

Silversea’s purpose-built Silver Explorer expedition ship (formerly the Prince Albert II) has been designed specifically for navigating waters in some of the world’s most remote destinations, including both of earth’s polar regions. A strengthened hull with a Lloyd’s Register ice-class notation (1A) for passenger vessels enables Silver Explorer to safely push through ice floes with ease. A fleet of Zodiac boats allows Silversea Expedition guests to visit even the most off-the-beaten path locations and an expert Expedition Team provides insight and understanding to each unforgettable Silver Explorer cruise adventure.

MV Horizon is a cruise ship owned by Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and operated by Pullmantur Cruises. She was built in 1990 at Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany for Celebrity Cruises as MV Horizon.

After crossing the Panama Canal and stop by Colon (Panama) and La Guaira (Venezuela), we arrived in Aruba & Curaçao, in the Caribbean! Oranjestad is such a colourful and “happy place”! It’s like Amsterdam but with Caribbean colours!

We left Acapulco, Mexico, crossed the Panama Canal, spent a few days in Colon for a quick wet dock, Panama, and sailed to Aruba, Curacao and other wonders of the Caribbean. A few weeks later we were arriving in Recife for the begining of the Brazilian cruise ship season.
